Body Session 17: Offside rear emergency door step wood work rebuild, locker stripping and painting

Today the woodwork that supports the offside rear emergency door step of the vehicle is completed with body panels tested in place to ensure perfect fit.  The engine locker underneath the emergency door is also stripped down with a second coat of paint added to entrance door poles and surrounding door frame.



The painting of the inside of the passenger entrance door frame continues with a second coat of paint following the sanding down of the first coat.

Body filler and screws are removed from the body locker that sits underneath the offside rear emergency door.


The locker is turned over as the work to remove the old wooden frame commences.

The removal of the old wood is now well under way.  At the too of this image the fibre glass has also been sanded down to for a smooth consistent profile that will ensure that the new wood will fit well.

The new wooden support section that will house the offside rear emergency door step takes shape.


The offside rear emergency door step is continuously tested in place to ensure a perfect fit with the new supporting wooden frame.


Both wooden sections that will house the body panel under the offside rear emergency door is firmly secured in place.


The body panel under the offside rear emergency door is tested in place.


The remaining body panels which fit in the vicinity of the rear emergency door are all tested in place in preparation for permanent fixing in the upcoming session with the vehicle’s rear panels.  Before permanent fixing it is important to ensure that all panels fit perfectly.  This image shows the offside profile of the vehicle as offside work nears completion.
