Bodywork Session 7 - Day 2: New offside locker support beam fitted

This morning we fit the new offside locker support beam.  The steel section has been fabricated by Eifion Jones to his usual high standard, and woodwork in the same way by Sion.

Sion is however called away in the afternoon which results in different kinds of vehicles being driven …….

The new fabricated support steel section that will be placed ro support the bidy section of CRG163, just underneath the passenger floor and the floor of the large offside locker.

The top section of the new steel section is carefully aligned and placed into place.

The new steel support section is attached to the locker floor section, but not before this is inspected and strengthened.

A new wooden section is carefully cut and fitted to the steel support box section by Sion as it would have originally appeared on the vehicle.  Absolutely care is taken as the locker floor section is gently jacked to make sure that the new section is attached to the locker floor at the correct height.

Having now fitted the fuel cap collar and wooden frame as well as the new steel support for the offside locker, all vehicle panels can now be fitted.  When this part is completed it will be historic as CRG163 will have eight lighting apertures fitted as last seen in 1971!

Sion is suddenly called away in the afternoon which results in the following vehicles being driven.

Green, but not Crosville, still fun to drive.
